Louis Chatriot is co-founder and CEO of Alma, France’s leading ‘pure player’ in instalment payments. A graduate of École Polytechnique and Stanford, he began his career as a consultant at Bain & Company, before launching his first start-up, ‘tldr’. A few years later, he joined Stripe to head up operations in France, before becoming General Manager for Italy. In 2018, he co-founded Alma. Under his leadership, the company has established itself as one of the major players in instalment payments in Europe, with over 25,000 partner merchants, 10 million users and an annual business volume of more than 2.5 billion euros. Now a profitable business, Alma has a simple vision: to make instalment payments a driver of performance for merchants and a useful, responsible service for consumers. The company stands out in particular for its absence of late payment fees and its rigorous risk policy, designed to limit instances of excessive debt.
