Sarah Gates is VP Global Affairs at Wayve, a London-headquartered pioneer of Embodied AI—the integration of AI and robotics—to power driver assistance and self-driving technology. Sarah leads Wayve's Global Affairs, Legal and Assurance function which includes global public policy, operational safety, security, ESG, and responsible AI deployment. Her work includes working closely with governments and regulators to develop legal frameworks for self-driving vehicles globally. She also ensures Wayve's technology is developed and deployed in alignment with regulation, societal expectations, and public trust, while proactively identifying and mitigating risk. Prior to joining Wayve, Sarah had a multidisciplinary background across a variety of science and technology roles. She began her career in academia, with a PhD at Imperial College London and has since specialised in science and research policy; in AI, data and emerging technologies, both in government and industry.
